What it does
404 to 301 catches every “page not found” on your WordPress site and turns it into something useful — a clean redirect, a logged error, or an alert in your inbox. Instead of losing visitors (and link equity) to dead URLs, you redirect them where they should have gone.
It has been maintained since 2014 and runs on over 100,000 active sites.
Why it exists
Broken links happen — content moves, slugs change, other sites link to the wrong URL. 404 to 301 makes that recoverable: log what’s breaking, redirect it with the right HTTP status, and know when it’s happening.
